About Camp 3

We are one of 28 Camps of The Corporation of the Seven Wardens and are based in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. We administer the Engineering Obligation Ceremony (known informally as the Iron Ring Ceremony) each year for graduating Engineering students of Queen’s University and the Royal Military College of Canada, as well as qualified Senior Candidates. We also provide replacement rings for previously-Obligated engineers.

The 2026 Ceremony

On 22 March 2026, 870 engineers took the Obligation and received their Iron Ring at Camp 3 Kingston, with over 2400 family, friends, and previously-Obligated Engineers in attendance.

Ring Exchanges

If you received your ring at the 2026 Camp 3 Obligation Ceremony and it doesn’t fit correctly, we will be doing exchanges as follows:

If you do not exchange your ring at one of these times, you may purchase a replacement.

2027 Engineering Obligation Ceremonies

The next Camp 3 (Kingston) Engineering Obligation Ceremonies will take place on 21 March 2027 at the Queen’s University Athletics and Recreation Centre. At this Ceremony we will also celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the first Camp 3 Obligation Ceremony, which was held in 1927.

All undergraduate Engineering students from Queen’s University and from the Royal Military College of Canada who expect to graduate in 2027 are invited to attend, as are all approved Senior Candidates.

Senior Candidate Applications

Engineers who meet the Senior Candidate criteria may take the Obligation and receive the Iron Ring by participating in the Obligation Ceremony.

Applications to participate in the 2027 Ceremony as a Senior Candidate will be accepted starting in November 2026.
