Senior Candidate applications

Engineers who meet the Senior Candidate eligibility criteria (below) may take the Obligation and receive the Iron Ring by participating in the Obligation Ceremony.

Applications to participate as a Senior Candidate in the 2027 Ceremony at Camp 3 (Kingston) will be accepted starting in November 2026.

If you are currently an undergraduate engineering student you should not apply using the Senior Candidate process; you will receive an invitation to register through your home university.

If you are already an Obligated Engineer and wish to attend the Obligation Ceremony, no application or ticket is required. Simply wear your ring to the Ceremony and you will be admitted.

Eligibility

Consistent with direction from the Corporation of the Seven Wardens issued in January 2026, Senior Candidate status is available to any applicant who meets the academic requirements for Professional Engineering licensure in Canada. An applicant may demonstrate this by providing clear evidence that they:

  1. are a graduate of an accredited Canadian undergraduate engineering program, or
  2. are or have been a licensed Professional Engineer in Canada, or
  3. are or have been a registered Engineer In Training in Canada, or
  4. have had their academic credentials accepted as satisfactory for professional engineering licensure by a Canadian Professional Engineering regulator.

Please note that Camp 3 and the Corporation of the Seven Wardens do not assess academic credentials themselves, but rather accept only the assessment of Canadian Professional Engineering regulators.
