Engineering Obligation Ceremony 2025
On 23 March 2025, 870 engineers took the Obligation and received their Iron Ring at Camp 3 Kingston, with over 2200 family, friends, and previously-Obligated Engineers in attendance. This year we also marked the 100th anniversary of the first Obligation Ceremony, held in Montreal in April of 1925.
Ring exchanges
If the ring you received at the Ceremony doesn’t fit, we will be doing exchanges:
- for Senior candidates: immediately following the Ceremony.
- for Queen’s students: Monday, 24 March, 6–7pm, in Nicol Hall room 227.
- for RMC students: Wednesday, 26 March, noon–1pm, in Sawyer room 2205.
If you do not exchange your ring at one of these times, you can purchase a replacement.
Planning for next year
The 2026 Obligation Ceremonies will take place in late March. All undergraduate Engineering students from Queen’s University and from the Royal Military College of Canada who expect to graduate in 2026 will be invited to attend.
Engineers who meet the Senior Candidate criteria may also participate in the Ceremony. Applications to participate as a Senior Candidate will open in November of 2025.
Registration for the Ceremony will open in January of 2026.
